As the title of the subject suggests, the addition of melee weapons like hammers or more commonly, swords.

With another point coming to mind (to avoid redundancy of the melee weapons) having the guns require ammunition to fire. I was thinking something really cheep and / or easy to collect or possibly have workers craft.

It may sound like a useless idea at first but it would enhance gameplay in my honest opinion, it would also make more efficiency out of turrets.

would not work with the fighting mechanics that already is in the game

Etxrase pretty much sums it up.

To add a little more to his point... Later on this game has all kinds of monsters coming at you from every direction. Having a ranged weapon that is out of ammo would be the death of you.

Also as one of many examples, and possible question if you can think of a work around, is how would you suggest fighting against not only the majority of monsters that are melee based but the ranged ones as well. Like the archers or the dragon. Unless the melee weapons were very cheap or easy to craft, I see no reason why I wouldn't put all my resources into an efficient ranged weapon and not bother with melee until I had a backup weapon and armor.

I think it is an brilliant idea!I would love to swing a sword to cut some zombies head off!

Mabye if the sword was like a zambato.
