It would be interesting if the player can buy gear to allow them to swim. This way, if the player purchased the gear they cannot accidentally fall into the water and drown. If you want the water to still be a threat, you can add monsters like sharks or piranha that spawn at night.(Sea monster, maybe?)

Good idea.
Flippers and Swimming Sleeves. They let you swim, but make you take more damage/move slower, depending which one you pick. You only need one, but getting both would give you swimming speed bonus?
Or, Sleeves allow you to idle in water (you don't drown if you don't move), while Flippers give you more speed, but if you don't move for several seconds you'll start drowning?
Also swimming goggles, so you can dive? Underwater chests and treasures? Whole archipelag/lake/sea maps? Possibilities.

It would also be useful in the event that one of the robot saboteurs (Those one-eyed things that love to put holes in my base) causes a flood.(In my base)

I think the jumping feels like cheating because the enemies cannot jump. Now if the enemies can jump like the player, then the playing field becomes a little more interesting.
