I think it would be the greatest thing ever if we could get saving for the maps for multiplayer. Also, having a map saved from single player then move it over to multiplayer so a friend can join and see the hard work put in. Even if all players are forgotten, then at least have the map saved.

You are not the first to ask this feature.
So, I will start to work on it.
It will probably not be in the next version, but you will have it.
Question for you:
Suppose the game has been player with 4 players. Also suppose that 3 of the players want to continue to player later one (but the 4th one is not available -- for some reason).
Should the game be able to resume without the 4th player?

The way I would go about this is to allow the 3 players to continue, there is no reason a good map has to be spoiled by a player that raged quit for dieing. Also, allow the 4th player to rejoin in-game or lobby. And all players have their inventories saved. The map should only be saved by the host.
